Commission
to John de Wodehous, William Hunt and John de Gillyngg, chplain, in pusuance of
an ordinance lately made by the king and council that the king should be
answered for the fruits and provents of all alien holders of benefices in the
realm, both cardinals and others, who are not resident on their benefices, in
aid of the expenses which he is compelles to incur in the defence of the realm,
to let at farm from Midsummer last the fruits and provents of all the
possessions, both ecclesiastical benefices and others, pertaining to the
deanery of York, which belongs to the cardinal of Périgord whether they be in
the city of York or elsewhere in the county of York.

Inspeximus
and ratification of letter patent (in French) of Henry, late duke of Lancaster,
earl of Derby, Lincoln and Leicester, steward of England, and Lord of Bruggerak
and Beauford, dated at the castle of Leycestre, Saturday the feast of St.
Cuthbert, 35 Edward III, granting to his esquire, John de Ipre, for life, the
office of sheriff of Lancastre, without rendering anything therefor; and grant
that John shall have the office for life, provided that he answer at the
Exchequer for all things belonging to the said office, as other holders thereof
have done.
